Text Analysis: The Crisis, December 1776

Who is writing?
- Thomas Paine is the writer/author of this primary document.

Who is the audience?
- Paine is referring this document to the colonies in America.

Who does the writer represent?
- Thomas is referring to the colonies because they have no freedom. British has took their freedom and if they don't do anything about it, Britain will have all the control. The colonies have been trying to make governments but it wont happen if they don't fight for their freedom.

What is being said and/or requested?
-Paine is saying that only God can have unlimited power, so they can do something about it. If they don't act now it will be harder later.

How is it being said, argued and/or requested?
-When he was writing this document, he seemed straight forward and honest. I noticed how he used his religion; Christianity to explain that they can do something to get that freedom back form Britain.

What proof is being used to legitimize the request?
-His proof that he uses is by backing up his reasoning with Christian religion. He mentions that God can only have unlimited poer and that shows that Britian can not control them if they act fast.
