Author: “The First Charter of Virginia” was written by King James in 1606.
Audiences: This agreement was intended for the settlers who were ordered to establish colonies in the New World and anyone who was involved in the Virginia Company.
Tone: The tone of King James’ charter was dull, formal, and kind of persuasive.
Purpose: The purpose of this charter was to establish colonies in the New World by certain boundaries, rules, and benefits given by King James. They were to be followed as directed.
Ethos: The emotions that I see from this document are selfishness, and fraud. The land did not even belong to the Europeans and still, they take control over it, starting colonies, and taking ownership of the lands, soils, rivers, mines, etc. when really the land belonged to the Native Americans.
Pathos: The creditability is the trust people put in King James. If they didn’t trust him, they wouldn’t have moved to the New World.
Logo: The logic is recognition of the benefits promised by King James. Even though King James controlled the two colonies through councils, the people didn’t realize that their freedom was still in control by King James.
