---“What do we mean by the Revolution? The war? That was no part of the Revolution; it was only an effect and consequence of it. The Revolution was in the minds of the people, and this was effected, from 1760-1775, in the course of fifteen years before a drop of blood was shed at Lexington.” --J. Adams to T. Jefferson, 1815. The revolution has been going on in the colonies for years, but the Stamp Act is the outcome of it. Because this brought many problems to the people, New York sent a letter of Correspondence to the Boston committee. They asked them to form a large committee consisting of fifty-one people. The purpose of these committees was for security of common rights and freedom.

Synthesis on documents, video, and quote
---Britain was the largest empire in the world during the 1700s. They have defeated France and were in control of many colonists who did not approve of their decisions. Parliament has placed the Stamp Act in 1765, and a lot of people were upset by this. A woman from the video states, that the Stamp Act was , "the dumbest act." There was tax on documents, newspapers, and even cards. In the document, Declaration and Resolves of the First Continental Congress, the continental congress felt that they should get the same rights as the first original colonies. The people were not happy about paying the high tax and they felt that it wasn't fair.
